Summer Reading Program Offered Online

Wednesday, June 3, 2020

Although they've shifted the offerings to online by way of Facebook Live, the Piggott and Rector Public Libraries will continue the traditional summer reading program throughout June. This year's effort was scheduled to kickoff today, Wednesday, June 3, with presentations of Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic Show. Throughout the month the Rector shows are slated for 9 a.m. with the Piggott show following at 11 a.m. The shows are aired on each of the library's Facebook pages, and will be available for viewing for a week afterward.

“Please watch the show, and share them with friends and family,” Piggott Library Director Gay Johnson offered. “And, all the viewers who comment will have their names entered in weekly drawings.”

The June 10 offering will be Around the Farm with the Clay County 4-H, on June 17, Robb Holloday's Balloon Magic will be featured and the series will wrap up on June 24, as it has for many years, with a performance by Brian and Terri Kinder.

Johnson also reported that reading logs will be kept for the entire month, and should be turned in by July 6. She also posts live updates on the Facebook page at 10 a.m. each Tuesday.

“Book bags are ready to be handed out, call the library and order yours,” she added.

Both libraries continue to offer pickup and drop-off of items, along with regular Facebook Live story times.
