Virgeen Huggins, 91, of Rector, Ark., passed away June 11, 2020, at the Rector Nursing and Rehab. She was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Poplin) Page. She worked beside her husband on the farm, driving tractors or doing whatever was needed. She always carried her purse on her arm while farming. She told the kids to be sure and get the purse if something happened to her, and to the shock of her family she had carried a paper bag full of money in it. She loved talking on the phone and finding out what was going on in the small town of Rector, cooking for her family and having them come over and visit with her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Huggins; a son, Jerry Huggins; three sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice and Kenneth Eaton of Leachville, Ark.; two sons, Thomas and Joyce Huggins of Rector, Clayton and Vickie Huggins of White Hall, Ark.; grandchildren, Jeremy Huggins, Caleb Huggins, Dustin Huggins, Travis Eaton and Jenyi Wise; a step-grandchild, Derrick Dawson; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; a brother, Denver Page; and two sisters, Dorothy Paulie and Della Rachow along with other family and friends.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, until service time at 2 p.m. at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 50 people will be allowed to gather inside of the funeral home at one time and must practice social distancing, keeping a six-foot distance between one another.
