COVID-19 Claims Third Life in Clay County

Clay County recorded its third death related to the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday, as the number of positive cases continues to climb. Jumping by over a half dozen the past two days, the number has climbed to 48 with 35 of those still active and 10 recovered. There have also been 1,250 negative results.

This places Clay County at the top of the region based on cases by population, as Greene County has 29 active; Lawrence has 10 active cases and Randolph County has nine active cases. Meanwhile, Craighead County has 54 active cases of the 404 who have tested positive. Lawrence County leads the region with nine deaths, while Craighead has recorded six, Randolph has had one and there have been no reported deaths in Greene County from the coronavirus.

Statewide on Wednesday, total positives rose to 16,678 with 5,221 still active and 237 deaths. There have also been 11,220 negative tests conducted.
