EJ Vangilder, 96, of Marmaduke, Ark., passed from this world on July 1, 2020. He was born in Greene County, Ark., to the late Martin and Ottie Mae (Thompson) Vangilder. He was a farmer and lived in this area his entire life. He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where he loved singing those old gospel hymns.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Amelia Lurene Vangilder; his parents, Martin and Ottie Vangilder; his siblings, Loyd Vangilder, Aubrey Vangilder, Doyle Vangilder, Earlene Barnes and Edith Leach; and a grandson, Benjamin Jay Vangilder.
EJ is survived by his children, Dennis and Wanda Vangilder of Ralph, Ark., Alvin and Reginia Vangilder of Rector, Ark., Andy and Jill Vangilder of Marmaduke and Dianne and James Wilson of Siloam Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Jonathan Vangilder, Cindy Still, David Wilson, Danny Wilson, Donna Mitchell, Denise Hayasha, Dawn Weir, Joshua Vangilder, Sarah Vangilder, Colby Wynn and Kelsey Wynn; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, with the service following at 12 noon, at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector. Interment will be at the Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector.
Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines those attending are asked to practice social distancing and face masks are required to enter the building.
