Loyd Merle Champion
Loyd Merle Champion, of Rector, Ark., the son of the late John Champion and Myrtle (Haney) Champion, was born January 11, 1931, in Caruthersville, Mo. He departed this life on August 26, 2020, at the age of 89 years, seven months and 15 days.
Loyd married Violet Rose Scott on June 5, 1954, in Avondale, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Rose Champion of Rector; two sons, Lloyd Monroe (Linda) Champion of Corning, Ark. And Daniel Tracey (Melissa) Champion of Rector; one daughter, Lois (Rodney) Payne of Biloxi, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Nicole) Champion, Anna (Joe) Stender, Debra (Brandon) Maggard, Naomi (Bobby) Duff, Andrew Payne, Jared Payne and Lillian Champion; along with seven great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter
Loyd was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Loyd was a member of the Living Word Tabernacle at Gibson, Mo., and his pastor was Bill Ivy.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 5, at McDaniel Funeral Service, in Kennett, Mo. Funeral services will be held at noon, on Saturday, in the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett, with Reverendís Frank McComas and Darrell Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Heights Cemetery, at Rector.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joshua Champion, Andrew Payne, Jared Payne, Joe Stender, Bobby Duff and Brandon Maggard. Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Monroe Champion, Daniel Champion, Rodney Payne, Robert Collins and Scott Shockley.
McDaniel Funeral Service, of Kennett, is in charge of the arrangements.
