Ted Bellers, 70, of Piggott, Ark., passed away December 29, 2020, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born on September 2, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., and was the son of Floyd and Claudena (Montgomery) Bellers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Junior Bellers and mother, Claudena Marilyn Bellers.
Ted graduated from high school in 1969 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1970. He later joined the Arkansas National Guard in 1977, serving for many years becoming an officer and eventually retiring as Captain in 2001. Ted worked as City Manager for the City of Piggott for 35 years, and as City Manager for the City of Malden for 12 years. He came back to the City of Piggott as City Controller, where he was currently working. He was instrumental in developing Piggott's Heritage Park and the baseball fields at Piggott's Independence Park. During his years at the City of Malden his work during an ice storm led to him being honored as Man of the Year. He served, and was actively serving on many community boards. Ted loved the city of Piggott and would do anything for the community. He also loved the Lord and his family. He especially enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren during their numerous sports activities. He rarely missed any of their games. In addition to his family, his pride and joy was his cabin in the hills where he spent many weekends.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Bellers of Piggott; son, Chris Bellers and wife Chrissy of Dexter, Mo, son, Shannon Bellers and wife Kim of Piggott; a daughter, Jennifer Wright of Piggott; grandchildren, Alex Bellers, Kayla Orr and husband LJ, Elijah Bellers, Dylan Bellers, Claire Bellers, Brandon Bellers, Sky Wright, Britt Wright, Todd Weathers and Ashtyn Lee; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Addlyn, Loni, and Kameron; brothers, Monty Bellers and Pat Breckenridge of Piggott and Dennis Bellers and wife Sharon of Piggott; sister, Marilyn Ann Coil and husband Steve of Bella Vista, Ark.; uncle, Rex Montgomery of West Plains, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, in Piggott. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with Joe Cole officiating and Ed Winberry and Shawn Parker assisting. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of, Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements.
