Ethan Edward Baker
Ethan Edward Baker of Jonesboro, Ark., slipped away peacefully into the arms of Christ Jesus October 31, 2001, at the age of 38. He is the son of former Brinkley resident, Ronald Patrick Baker and his wife Debra Jean Rogers Baker formerly of Van Buren, Ark.
Ethan was born in the Philippines and grew up on an island in Indonesia where his parents served as missionaries. It was a rare and greatly cherished childhood for him, his siblings, and missionary “cousins.” He returned from Indonesia to reside in Arkansas in 2003. Ethan resided in Arkansas and Missouri before becoming disabled due to a prolonged illness with cancer.
By God’s grace, Ethan endured his illness with amazing courage; never complaining, never surrendering his joy in life, never yielding to despair or bitterness in spite of many disappointments and much suffering.
In addition to his parents who currently reside in Piggott, Ark., Ethan is survived by his older brother, Joshua Baker and family (wife Jana, nephew Lucas and nieces Alaina, Annelise and Isabelle) currently of Evansville, Wisc.; younger brother, Aaron Baker currently of Jonesboro, Ark.; his sister, Elizabeth Baker Russell and her husband, Rakeem Russell currently of Tucson, Ariz.; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him.
Visitation was at Hoggard Funeral Home in Piggott at 6 p.m., Friday, November 5. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 7, at Johnson Cemetery in Wheatley, Ark.
