Annual Nimmons Old Timers Dinner to be held Sept. 4

Organizers of the annual Nimmons Old Timers Dinner are happy to announce the dinner will once again take place. This year’s dinner will be held beginning at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the community center. Current, and former, residents of the Nimmons area are invited to attend, and bring a dish for the potluck meal. They’ll also be accepting donations at the door, with the proceeds going toward the continued upkeep of the Nimmons Cemetery.

McCoy and Collier reunion planned

Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and en joy the fellowship. FAIRY GARDEN NOW OPEN

Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum and Study Center has added a fairy garden to their outdoor activities for the children. BRTC receives Regional Workforce Grant

BRTC has been selected as a recipient in the next round of funding from the Regional Workforce Grant. This time the focus of the grant was on two areas. The first is transportation, with requests focusing on transportation sectors such as CDL, and Automotive/Collision Repair, Diesel Technology, Aviation Maintenance/Repair. The second area is advanced manufacturing, including Robotics, Mechatronics, CNC, Machining, Industrial Technology, and Renewable Energy.

Hartwell accepts position at BRTC

Black River Technical College is pleased to announce that Neal Harwell has accepted the Mental Health Counselor and Crisis Intervention Specialist position for the Division of Student Affairs. This is a one-year grant-funded position that is paid for through HEERF (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) funding.
