Three Rivers College to hold Ag Connect event

Three Rivers College and the University of Missouri Butler County Extension Office will host Ag Connect on Jan. 20-21 at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff to bring everyone together and connect farmers to their roots. There will be beneficial information and workshops for all facets of agriculture found in Southeast Missouri and Northwest Arkansas— row crop, livestock, forestry, ag business side, and more.

Mohawks face Corning at home

Piggott hosted the Corning Bobcats on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and the senior boys started out with a tied score at the end of the first quarter and led the Bobcats 31-30 at half-time. Unfortunately they couldn’t keep the lead and lost the game 66-71.

Junior Lady Cougars work hard throughout the season

The young, junior Lady Cougars team, coached by Shea McCain, has seen its share of ups and downs throughout the season. The team has won in overtime, lost heartbreakers by one point, but all the while learning and growing as individuals and as a team. Coach Bill Taylor and Coach Shea McCain have worked with each other for all the Lady Cougar teams, producing a group of hard-working, persevering players, coming together as teams that play hard each game.

January is School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas

The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) announced that January is School Board Appreciation Month in Arkansas. School board members play an essential role in the community. Piggott will join other districts in Arkansas in celebration of their board by thanking them for the time, talents and knowledge they bring to the district and for their commitment to the families and children of this community.

Cross-stitch workshop set at Powhatan State Park

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a cross-stitch workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. The cost of the workshop is $20 and reservations are required. Those taking part will learn that cross-stitching is not only the oldest form of embroidery, but also one of the easiest to learn. Participants will learn basic stitch techniques, pattern reading, and will stitch one of several historic or modern patterns of their choosing. The registration fee covers the cost of materials but participants are asked to bring a sack lunch.
