The Rector LEGO team competed in the state tournament at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville on January 2022. This was the eighth straight year the team has qualified for the state tournament.
The Clay County Extension Service is offering its annual pesticide applicator training at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Extension office located at 148 East Main in Piggott. The training is required for agriculture producers to qualify for license to purchase restricted pesticides. The class costs $20 and those interested must be present for the entire training session to be certified for a license from the Arkansas State Plant Board. The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will host the annual corn and cotton production meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27. The meeting will be held at the Rector Community Center, on Highway 49 in Rector.

Some of Ashley Souder’s students peeped through the window to watch with anticipation as school and city employees made the final adjustments and secured the equipment for safety.
The lead in the championship game Saturday, Jan 14, the contest that pitted the reigning champion Rector Cougars against the Bay Yellowjackets switched moment by moment. The Yellowjackets ran up an impressive lead to begin the game, but the Cougars stormed back to erase the deficit.
1983 Betty Reams, Executive Director of Piggott Community Hospital, officially announces that on January 15, 1983, the Piggott Community Hospital began operation of the ambulance service formerly operated by the City of Piggott. Kim Parton is Piggott High School’s 1983 Basketball Homecoming Queen.
