The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports than on Jan. 18 a Clay County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle between Piggott and St. Francis on U.S. 62. The vehicle refused to pull over and turned onto CR 346 heading west. The vehicle was traveling over 60 mph on the gravel road. The deputy did not want the vehicle to make it back to Piggott or turn into the hills at this speed. The deputy performed a T.V.I. (tactical ve-hicle intervention) on the vehicle, which caused it to go into the ditch.

SENATOBIA, MS (01/ 22/2025)— The President’s List for the Fall 2024 semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College was released by college officials. Among those recog-nized were Jackson Hill of Rector and Aaron Mauldin of Piggott.
