“Blame it all on (the late) Reuben Seay,” quipped Nita Bowden who told of Hutie Bowden’s first interest in fighting fire with the Rector Fire Department. She smiled as Hutie completed the story of how he and John Seay, Carolyn and Reuben’s son, grew up together, spending time at the Seay house.

Jimmie Carl Rogers Jimmie Carl Rogers, 89, of Piggott, Ark., passed away September 6, 2023, at his home. He was born on May 26, 1934, in Austin Community near Piggott, and was the son of the late Carl and Elsie (Neeley) Rogers.
The subject of the addition of the roundabouts in Piggott has been a concern since the concept of the idea. Now, almost a year after the start of the construction, a local trucking company owner requested a meeting with ARDOT. Billy Jackson of Billy Jackson Trucking of Piggott contacted State Representative Jeremy Wooldridge who immediately set up a meeting. The Piggott Fire Department generously offered the use of the kitchen area of the fire station to conduct the meeting in which approximately 50 concerned members of the public, truckers, city and county officials as well as Wooldridge and Senator Blake Johnson attended.

Rector School Board met in regular session on Monday, Sept 11, at 5:30 p.m. and accomplished a light, yet required, agenda. Elementary Principal Mark Manchester told the board that his campus has been working with the district co-op on a Community in Partnership grant that investigates curriculum and best practice to establish better pacing for meeting learning goals at a deeper level. “It’s a big deal for our teachers,” he commented.
