The longest distance travelled award for the Labor Day Picnic total miles was incorrectly listed as 1440 miles and should have been 4144 miles. The award was presented to Carole Pruett-Petricek of Ewa Beach, HI.

IT HAPPENED HERE YEARS AGO….

1982 Four teams from the Piggott Girls’ Softball Association were awarded trophies for the 1982 season in the Tri-County League. They received two first place trophies, McElvoy Floor Service’s 10-12 year old team and Piggott Florist’s 13-15 year old team.

Annual Labor Day Picnic celebrated

Times-Democrat News Staff While Labor Day may be a national holiday, in Arkansas, Labor Day belongs to Rector. A full weekend of extravagant events begins with the Clopton Memorial Golf Tournament sponsored by Rector Sports Hall of Fame organization held on Friday.

McCoy and Collier reunion planned

Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and enjoy the fellowship.
