Summer In Rector
June is moving right along. It has really been pleasant so far, in spite of the rain. I turned the A/C off for a couple of days last week and had the windows open. It didn’t last long, but it was good for a while. The rivers are beginning to go down. That’s good for those who have been hit by the floods. I know from past experience, cleanup and repairs after flooding takes a long time to get back to normal.
In the meantime, farmers around here are working overtime on every dry day. Be patient when you encounter farm equipment on the roadways. They aren’t going very far and the farmers need our support right now, as always.
Sharon Tooms took a trip to Fulton MO, recently to meet her new grandson, Theodore Jacob Pruett. Theodore was born, March 28 to Sharon’s daughter Jessica and her husband Taylor Pruett, weighing in at a healthy 7lbs. 8 oz. Welcome Theodore. His two big sisters, Bella Grace and Adeline Mae also got some attention from Grandma Sharon.
Who else is traveling this summer? Tell me and I will share.
The Rector Community Museum is continuing with activities to keep people interested in the museum. Last week they welcomed Sarah Seay Vanguilder to the museum kitchen for a Healthy Living Class for teens and young adults. You may have seen it on KAIT8. Keep an eye on the Rector Community Museum Facebook page for the next Healthy Living Class.
They will also be hosting entertainment on June 20th. Angie Penny Joiner will be performing some musical numbers for your entertainment. These events are free to the public although they pass the hat to pay the performers. So far the entertainment has been top notch and I look forward each month to see who is on the agenda. If you haven’t been to one drop by on the 3rd Thursday and check it out. If you have been, we hope to see you again.
Anyone wanting to help Ronda Haney with on-going expenses can still make deposits. The account at Centennial Bank, 809 East 9th St., Rector is still open. The account is in the name of Ronda Haney and Alex Green. You can also contribute through Paypal: https//www.paypal.me/rondaandalex . And if you would like a snazzy bracelet, go to the Facebook page of Sarah Pruett Boyd. She has hand made bracelets for sale with all the proceeds going to Ronda and Alex.
I suppose this is all I have for this week. What else is going on that you would like to see in this column. Give me a heads up and I will share it with everyone else. Email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net . Phone number (870) 595-4997. Check out your Rector, Arkansas website: www.rectorarkansas.com from time to time. I love to be told I need to update it and I take all suggestions to heart. Take a look.
Goodbye for now.
