Solstice
Summer Solstice was last week. It slipped right up on me. Even when the full moon peeked in my window and woke me up two mornings in a row about 3:30 a.m. I didn’t get the hint. It just seems we aren’t even over winter yet. But indeed, we are past winter, and the longest day of the year went by without a proper tribute from me. Now as the days begin to get shorter, we still look forward to the heat of summer coming on. As it stands now we are still seeing swarms of angry storms batter one region after another and waiting for the fury of hurricane season. Happy Summer, everyone.
Hayden and Emma Crancer celebrated another victory with Louie over the weekend. They traveled to Oklahoma City to pick up more winning ribbons. Louie is now (as of May 31) the #1 OH Cavalier and #3 All-Breed Cavalier Spaniel. Congratulations!
The Thursday evening entertainment at the Rector Community Museum was well attended. Angie Penny Joiner and her band performed a great selection of musical numbers, spurring memories for everyone in attendance. We are already looking forward to next month’s third Thursday to see what kind of entertainment Joey lines up for us. If you haven’t been to one of these events, you need to mark your calendar and come see us. Every performance has been top notch and it is a fun way to help your community museum and connect with our neighbors. They are fun too.
That’s it for this week. Watch for the storms, stay cool, when you can and enjoy all the summer activities that make you happy.
What else is going on that you would like to see in this column. Give me a heads up and I will share it with everyone else. Email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net . Phone number (870) 595-4997. Check out your Rector, Arkansas website: www.rectorarkansas.com from time to time. I love to be told I need to update it and I take all suggestions to heart. Take a look.
Goodbye for now.
