Christmas Is In The Air
Already into December 2019. Christmas is indeed creeping up on us. Decorations are adding color and excitement to every street and every storefront. Carols are playing and in spite of the increased stress of the season, there is a kind word and a blessing from almost everyone we meet. The weather is typical, cool to cold and off-and-on-again rain and drizzle, keeps the days gray. To me, that is Christmas weather. I don’t expect snow, but it wouldn’t be too bad would it?
Saturday the RHS Helping Hands Foundation held their 1st Annual Cathy Manning Memorial Dinner Theater and Silent Auction. RHS Thespian Troupe 4089 performed Swagger by Eric Coble and John 3:16 Ministries provided the delicious dinner. The Helping Hands Foundation is an integral part of our community, helping us serve the needs of our school children who need a little help. Thank you to the RHS Helping Hands Foundation and to everyone who worked to provide this entertaining event for our community.
The Rector Public Library is decked out for Christmas from stem to stern and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. you are invited to join them for Christmas at the Library. Drop by for a little Christmas spirit.
Then come to the Parade on Friday, Dec 13. The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. followed immediately with a party at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is welcome and I have heard that Santa will be there too.
Next week, plan to be at the Rector Community Museum’s Third Thursday event. That is Thursday 19, at 7:00 p.m. Dennis Gurley and the Eggmen will be entertaining then. It is a great mini concert. See you there.
If I missed an event, please let me know and I will tell everyone about it next week. It is not too early to start singing Happy Holiday songs. Keep the Christmas spirit going.
That’s it for this week. I am always updating the Rector website. Please take a look at the web page and let me know if there are updates or changes that need to be made. I do take suggestions and criticism fairly well. www.rectorarkansas.com . It’s your page for your town, so give me your input.
What else is going on that you would like to see in this column? Give me a heads up and I will share it with everyone else. Email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net . Phone number (870) 595-4997.
God bless our troops wherever they are.
