Runnin’ Scared 5K scheduled

The 6th Annual Runnin’ Scared 5K will be hosted at Pumpkin Hollow on Saturday, Sept. 16. The racecourse will be a mix of road and off-road running. Runners will run through a local cemetery and through the grounds of Pumpkin Hollow. “Who knows…you may find a few “friends” along the way as well! Be sure to bring your flashlights or head lamps as the race will take place after dark,” a spokesperson commented The race will start at 8 p.m. and registration is underway at www.runsignup.com/ Race/AR/Piggot/ RunninScared5k. Clay County Fair Parade entries being sought

The annual Clay County Fair Parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, and entrants are now being recruited. In keeping with tradition, the parade will begin at the First Baptist Church of Piggott, located a block west of the square on West Main Street, and will end at the fairgrounds. Line up and registration will start at 9:15 a.m. at the church and entrants are asked to be lined up by 9:30 a.m.

Demolition derby set Sept. 16 at fairground

A demolition derby will be held Saturday, Sept.16 in conjunction with the Clay County Fair. The event will be held at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Peewee starts at 6:30 p.m. and the adult competition at 7 p.m. Those who want more information may call Rick Hardy at 573-344-1110.
