The Clay County Fair is set for Sept. 13 to 16, and commercial booths are now available for rental. The booths are indoor, air condi-tioned and include electrical hook-ups. Rental rates are just $50, which covers the full run of the fair. Those wanting additional information, or to reserve a booth, may contact Barbara Collier at 870 598-7311.

The 43rd annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 14 through Saturday, Sept. 16. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with craft booths, food and a free concert by Cory Jackson at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, with other activities including a turkey shoot at 1 p.m. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations and music from Dixon Street. Piggott Farmers Market is still open every Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at the First National Bank Pavilion on East Main.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Piggott Public Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card.

In response to popular demand, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 7. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to include their sale on the list may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours at 870-598-3167 or email chamberpg@yahoo.com. The annual Clay County Fair Parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, and entrants are now being recruited. In keeping with tradition, the parade will begin at the First Baptist Church of Piggott, located a block west of the square on West Main Street, and will end at the fairgrounds. Line up and registration will start at 9:15 a.m. at the church and entrants are asked to be lined up by 9:30 a.m.
