Jimmie Carl Rogers

Jimmie Carl Rogers, 89, of Piggott, Ark., passed away September 6, 2023, at his home.

He was born on May 26, 1934, in Austin Community near Piggott, and was the son of the late Carl and Elsie (Neeley) Rogers.

Jim was united in marriage to Sue Graves on January 17, 1959, and to this union three children were born. Sue preceded him in death on June 21, 1992. He later married Martha (Shelby) Vangilder and she also preceded him in death. His son, Mark Rogers preceded him in death.

Jim was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved the local farming community and believed there was no better place to live. He enjoyed golf, cards, and catfish.

Jim is survived by his two daughters: Pam (Tommy) Suitt of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Penny Lee of Panama City, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Josh Whatley, Megan Lee, Jimmy Lee, Johnny Lee, Brandon Suitt, Brittany Suitt, Mikayla Suitt, and Peyton Suitt; one greatgrandchildren, Emily; longtime companion, Sharon Tillman of Piggott; sister, Carolyn Williams of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother, Steve Rogers of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott with Kason Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Family served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Gossett, Larry McCoy, and Kevin Latimer. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Children’s Home in Paragould.
