Cougars Down Warriors in Triple OT

The Rector Cougars beat Ridgefield Christian 58-54 in triple-overtime Friday night in the third-fourth place seeding game of the 1A-East district tournament at Armorel. The boys in blue will now advance to take on Calico Rock in the first round of the upcoming regional tournament, also being played at Armorel. The contest with the Pirates will be played at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22.

With a win the Cougars will advance to take on the winner of the Armorel-Hillcrest game at 8:30 Thursday. A win by the squad will also secure a spot in the upcoming state 1A basketball tournament at Morrilton and hosted by Wonderview.

All of the finals, and seeding games, are set for Saturday.

The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds have also advanced, as they beat Sloan-Hendrix 59-35 in the 2A-2 finals at Marked Tree Friday night. They'll take on Des Arc at 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the regional also being played at Marked Tree. With a win they'll advance to face the winner of the Salem-Earle game at 7 p.m. on Friday in the semi-finals. The seeding and championship games will also be played Saturday.

This year's 2A state tournament is being played at White County Central at Judsonia.
