Vernell Scott Bradshaw
Vernell Scott Bradshaw, 89, of Piggott, Ark., passed away Friday, July 3, 2020. Vernell was the son of the late Luther and Edith Bradshaw. He was preceded in death by brothers Glen Bradshaw, Joe Wayne Bradshaw and Dale Bradshaw. Sisters preceding him in death were Shelvagene Miller and Janie Barker.
Surviving family includes his wife of 71 years, Virginia; his daughters, Veronica Latta, Patsy Loveless (the late Kennith), Sherry (Richard) Jones and Deena Neumann. Grandchildren are Darrick Latta, Scott (Christie) Loveless, Amy (Bobby) Peropat, Desma (Tom) George, Kyle Jones, David Neumann and Elizabeth Neumann. Great grandchildren are Katherine Latta, Megan and Molly Loveless, Kyle, Emily, Jason, and Evan Peropat, Caleb and Levi George and Colt Neumann. He is also survived by three brothers, David Bradshaw, Phillip Bradshaw and Steve Bradshaw; along with two sisters, Katie Pounder and Elaine George.
Mr. Bradshaw was a dedicated member and deacon of Gravel Hill General Baptist Church. He loved the church and spent all of his adult years there, faithfully serving his God. He worked tirelessly, along with other members, rebuilding the church after it burned. He went on mission trips to Honduras, where he helped build schools for those children. He loved those trips and enjoyed speaking of them, right up to his death.
Mr. Bradshaw was a carpenter/contractor by trade. He built many beautiful homes in and around Piggott and Missouri. Additionally, he traveled to Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee, building a series of gas stations. Later he served as Maintenance Supervisor at the Piggott School District, until his retirement.
Mr. Bradshaw was his happiest when he was busy, be that on the job or at home. He had a love and talent for gardening. His vegetable and flower gardens were nothing short of spectacular, year after year. He was blessed to enjoy some travel with his wife. They attended many of the sightseeing trips offered by the Piggott State Bank. He enjoyed sharing stories about those trips with his friends and children.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, at Gravel Hill General Baptist Church in St. Francis, Ark. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with Ted Winberry officiating. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis. Pallbearers are Richard Jones, Scott Loveless, David Neumann, Danny Bradshaw, Earl McRoberts, and Dale Grimes.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Ark., is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.
