Clay County Fair Canceled For 2020
The impact of the coronavirus outbreak on activities in 2020 continues to be felt, as the Clay County Fair Association has announced the cancellation of this year's fair. The news came following Tuesday night's meeting of the fair board, and was shared in this news release.
“The Clay County Fair Association met July 13, and again July 20, to discuss having a fair during the COVID-19 pandemic. After lengthy discussion with input from exhibitors and organizers, 2020 Clay County Fair plans are canceled. The board determined that current directives and restrictions required to get a plan approved by Arkansas Health Department cannot reasonably be met with our limited resources. Limited events might be possible, but not inclusive of all ages and categories of exhibitors under current conditions. We hope everyone supports our decision, making safety of Clay County youth and residents most important. NEA District Fair and Arkansas State Fair have also announced cancellation. The same challenges overwhelm our small fair and we are sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes. Be safe and stay well.”
With the cancellation of the fair, the planned concert featuring The Kentucky Headhunters was also called-off for this fall-although the fair board indicated they planned to have them make an appearance in conjunction with the 2021 event.
