Piggott High School sports banquet held

The Piggott Sports banquet was held Thursday, May 19. Male and female athletes from basketball, softball, and baseball were honored. A new award was given this year in honor of Coach Matt Sutfin. The athletes chosen embody passion and drive for the game of basketball, much like Coach Sutfin. The male and female athlete that received this prestigious award were Shawn-Hudson Seegraves and Emma Langley.

2022 Seniors . . . Well, here you are about to graduate. I’m sure you’re pinching yourself at the prospect of reaching your goal of the last 12 years. I think of you all as caterpillars. You’re about to leave your cocoons; your high school and homes, to emerge as butterflies and fly away to your futures.

TRIPPP in concert at Ford Room

The Band TRIPPP, triplet brothers from Jonesboro, based in the Country Music Capitol of Nashville, has turned a corner in the performance and recording world they first explored in 2017 with a skyrocketing career of close family harmony and a new and novel stage presentation. Studying at Belmont University in Nashville, playing gigs at the famous downtown Nashville clubs, and studying songwriting, sound engineering and performance, and biblical studies, the brothers found a way back from the COVID setback. At first a cover band, a trio playing and singing popular and current pop country hits, the group has moved into songwriting and a unique niche in the music industry.

Roy Ray Duty

Roy Ray Duty, 90 of Piggott, Ark., passed away May 8, 2022, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born on May 27, 1931, to the son of the late William Thomas (Bill) and Ida Mae Steward Duty.

Ellene Mary Little

Ellene Mary Little, 91 of Rector, passed away on May 20, 2022. She was a special caretaker to family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and making sure that all the people at the table had the dish they wanted. She was a small lady but when she spoke, the family listened. She was the rock. She loved her family and was very loved in return.

Janis Williamson

Janis Williamson, age 76 of Hammond, Ind., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She is survived by her three children, Tammy (Charles) Rhodus, Penny (Chris) Gibbs and Timothy (Paula) Williamson; four grandchildren, Caleb and Jacie Gibbs, Lucretia (Alfonso) Rodriguez and Joshua Rhodus; siblings, Elbert Qualls, Helen Ruth (Roger) Ricks, Ilsa (Arlon) Rhynes, JoAnn (Doyne) Shelton, Eugene Robert (Karen) Qualls and Eva Nell (Ricky) Williams, Lorraine Qualls, wife of James Louis Qualls; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
