Barbara Jo Souheaver was born September 6, 1938, to Dallas and Vada Marie (Nesbitt) Souheaver, and left this world on May 18, 2022, at Rector Nursing and Rehab Center. She is survived by a nephew, Sam (Ann) Presley of Paragould, and her sisters Jean Cole of Rector, and Kay Smith of Oak Grove, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rebecca Finley of Piggott was among more than 60 highest performing students recently recognized at Three Rivers College annual Student Excellence Awards ceremony. Winners were chosen to represent each academic department and career education program, the Three Rivers external locations, honor societies, and major student organizations.
The annual Williams Cemetery Association business meeting and homecoming will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28. The gathering will be held at the cemetery, located on CR 450 between Piggott and Crockett, and all are welcome to attend.
The Clay County Cattlemen’s Association is proud to announce Carly Robinson of Rector High School as the recipient of this year’s CCCA Scholarship. She plans to attend Black River Technical College to major in Animal Science. Her goal is to obtain her degree and assist in her family cattle operation. As a student, Carly was active in FFA, softball, basketball, Math Club, Science Club and Pep Club. She is the daughter of Dawn Martin and Ward Robinson. Members of the CCA Scholarship Committee presenting the Certificate were Kenny Collier and Sherry Dills. Additional scholarship committee members are Dale Grimes, Randy Anders and Dillan Hartsfield.
Jessica Turner of Piggott is one of more than 700 students who received diplomas and were recognized as Harding University graduates for Spring 2022 during a commencement ceremony on May 7, 2022. Turner received a Master of Arts in excellence in teaching.
Nominations are being accepted for the Piggott Schools PACE program (Program for Academic and Creative Excellence). Nomination forms may be picked up and returned to the elementary school or high school offices. The annual Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, in the conference room of the Rector Community Center. Any-one with ties to the cemetery is urged to attend and help support the cemetery.
The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center in Piggott will host its Summer 2022 Writer’s Retreat June 13 through the 17. The retreat will be held in the education center and the Hemingway barn-studio and will offer writers the opportunity to work under the direction of a professional mentor.
