PHS FCCLA to present wrestling event

Wrestling is coming to Piggott! The PHS FCCLA have teamed up with Spoke N Word Christian Motorcycle Association to present the championship wrestling event as a fundraiser to help send four of their members to the 2022 National STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events competition in San Diego, Calif. Among the four attending are Emma Riddle and Haley Hanners – Chapter in Review; Chloe Sexton – Sustainability and Tamia Davis – Early Childhood.

Memorial Day observed in Clay County

On Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., Woodland Heights Cemetery Board hosted the annual Memorial Day Remembrance service. Led by VFW Commander Jon Bradshaw and Cemetery Board Secretary Cheri Boyd, the crowd listened to music and remarks, speaking together of the need to focus on those military men and women who lost their lives in service to America. The first song played in tribute to the memory of the deceased veterans was Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”

Sandra Jean Lentz

Sandra Jean Lentz, 75 of Marmaduke, Ark., passed away from this world on May 24, 2022 at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital. She was born in Rector, Ark., to the late Lloyd and Mary (Whitaker) Vangilder. She enjoyed her life to the fullest and loved her son and grandchildren with all her heart. She was an avid sports fan and cheered the Cardinals and Razorbacks on each game. She really just loved anything involving sports including the NASCAR races. She was a member of the Union Central Church of Christ.

Russell Ray Gamblin burst open the doors of Heaven Monday morning, May 30, 2022, with a smile and a shout announcing his arrival. He’d been quiet for a week, and we’re confident our Savior considered his outburst music to His ears as He embraced him welcoming him home.

PACE nominations being accepted

Nominations are being accepted for the Piggott Schools PACE program (Program for Academic and Creative Excellence). Nomination forms may be picked up and returned to the elementary school or high school offices.
