Encore performance planned at the Ford Room Sept. 15

Rector Community Museum is hosting an encore performance of old-time Gospel Singing on Thursday, September 15, complete with refreshments. Doors open to the museum at 6 p.m. and the event is free. The Museum board treasurer Judy Foster Leach commented, “The event is free when you come in, but we pass the hat to defray costs, so you can drop your dollars into the donation canister as you exit.”

Labor Day belongs to Rector

Rector’s 82nd Annual Labor Day celebration started early this year with a history presentation at the Rector Area Chamber of Commerce office which is located in the historic water-works building, also known as “the jail.,” adjacent to the Veterans Memorial Park. Crystal Parmenter Williams, executive director of the Chamber, researched and presented historical information regarding Rector’s Labor Day to an interested audience on the Wednesday morning before Labor Day.
