“The royal we”, what we have lost

A fondness for royalty in America may seem a kilter since our Revolutionary fathers threw British tea into the Boston Harbor and declared to be done with such. Independence Day, July 4, is celebrated with gusto and all-American fireworks, rousing Sousa marches give hamburgers and hot dogs a colorful backdrop. We are all about America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, best country on earth. We pledge our allegiance to America.

McCoy and Collier reunion planned

Plans are underway for a reunion of all descendants and relatives of the late Newton Jasper McCoy and Arthur Collier. The event will take place from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Rector Community Center. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and enjoy the fellowship.
