Piggott Mohawk tennis team competes in District Tournament
The Piggott boy’s tennis team finished as team District Runner-up. They defeated Cave City, Corning, Harrisburg and Newport. Tuckerman was crowned as team District Champions. This gave the boys’ team a 13-6-2 record for the season.

RES TEACHER OF THE MONTH
Mandy Isom was recently chosen asTeacher of the Month for Rector Elementary. She received two nominations. The first nomination stated,“Mrs.Mandy spends countless hours getting data and materials for teachers ready. She is always willing to help out if she is able. She wears many hats, and wears them well. She is kindhearted and loving to everyone she comes in contact with. Mrs. Mandy always has a kind and encouraging word to say to the students. She always has a smile on her face, even when it is difficult to find a reason to smile. Mrs. Mandy never expects anything in return for her acts of kindness.”The second nomination said. “Mrs. Mandy is a great advocate for our teachers and students. She works very hard to ensure that our teachers have the latest information on state requirements and how to best serve our students. She often spends lots of time researching options for our school and gathering relevant data so that we can better serve our students. Mrs. Mandy is friendly and approachable. If she doesn’t have the answer you need,she’ll put in the time to find it for you. Piggott art class competes at Little Rock
Piggott schools art class recently participated in the Arkansas Peace Week Art Competition in Little Rock. All the students submitted art for the theme “End Racism.
Piggott city wide yard sale set Oct. 8
In response to popular demand, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 8. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Organizers also report a scrap electronics, or E-Waste, effort will follow in mid-October in conjunction with the regional landfill. Those wanting to include their sale on the list may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours at 870-598-3167 or email chamberpg@yahoo.com.
Ghost Walk tours planned at Powhatan Historic Park
Powhatan Historic State Park will once again be offering Ghost Walk tours. The tours are set for Saturday, Oct.
Three Rivers College Music Department to present Fall Showcase
The Three Rivers College Music Department will present its Fall Showcase at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. In this Showcase, Three Rivers vocal and instrumental students will perform diverse solos and ensembles, as well as a “mini-musical” performance by the premier student musical theater ensemble. Admission is free.
