Early voting to begin Monday
Early and absentee voting will begin Monday, Oct. 24 and run through Nov. 7, at the Piggott Community Center in Piggott and the M.B. Ainley Community Center in Corning. Ballots may be cast from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7. The polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. This year all of the polling sites in Clay County will be voting centers, and county residents may cast their ballots at either location on election day. Those wanting additional information may call the County Clerk’s office at 870-5982813.

Mohawks suffer homecoming loss
The Mohawks Homecoming game last Friday was against one of the best teams in the conference, the Walnut Ridge Bobcats. And they were as advertised VERY good! The Mohawks played a good first quarter and only trailed 14-0 going into the second quarter.

Mabreys to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Jim and Patricia Mabrey will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a dropin reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at their home located at 214 Idlewild Street in Rector. The couple was wed Oct. 20, 1972 at the Rector First General Baptist Church with Rev. Dobie Shelton officiating.
