James Magee is celebrating his 25th year as executive director of Piggott Health Systems (Piggott Community Hospital). The current hospital was built in 1978, which is when the city came into ownership.

Cook home shows Christmas spirit
Mike and Pat Cook are proud of their Christmas Village which has grown to 96 houses. They have displayed this every year since 1992. The Cooks started out with 30 miniature houses and it has grown every year. It is quite an impressive and beautiful sight when the room lights are turned off and the village is lit up. Cook said it takes him two or three weeks to get everything set up to his approval.
Neighboring teams split non-conference wins
The Piggott girls’ teams took the victories Monday night, Nov. 20 contests at the Piggott Mohawk gym while the Rector boys’ teams won their games Junior High Girls In a close game for both Rector and Piggott squads, the one-point Piggott win illustrated the entire razoredge for the game.
BRTC Law Enforcement Class 2022-B graduates
Black River Technical College’s Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) held its Fall 2022 graduation ceremony on Friday, Nov. 18 for the 47 officers who completed the Basic Police Training Course.

Patrolman Justice Midkiff of the Rector Police Department was one of 47 officers who successfully completed Basic Police Training Course 2022B at the Black River Technical College Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pocahontas, Ark.
Arkansas Department of Agriculture accepting applications for farm to school program grants
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the annual Arkansas School Garden Grant Program and Arkansas Taste Test Grant Program to help schools start or expand farm to school activities. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 15, 2022.
