Rector Downtown Central to host Buddy the Elf

Rector Downtown Central will host Santa’s favorite elf, Buddy the Elf, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, in Rector Downtown Park. Friends of Buddy the Elf will take him for a ride in the Christmas Parade so he can see Santa. Buddy the Elf believes in spreading Christmas Cheer by singing loudly for all to hear and Ken Price, pastor of Rector General Baptist Church, will lead the crowd bellowing forth with their best voices at the bandstand around 3:30 p.m.

Hunsaker pleads guilty to first degree murder, sentenced to 43 years

Heath Hunsaker, age 30, of Dexter, Mo., appeared as required in the Criminal Division of Greene County Circuit Court on Nov. 28, before Judge Chris Thyer for a pretrial hearing before the court. His appearance with his attorneys occurred after conferences between the defense attorneys and attorney for the State of Arkansas and the Matthew Wayne Hale family Mike Trail. Judge Thyer opened court by stating that the two sides had recently been in negotiations and a plea deal had been accepted by the Hale family. Judge Thyer then reviewed the two-page plea agreement.
