Arlene Gregory, 66, of Rector, Ark., passed away November 25, 2022, at her home in Rector. She was born on June 27, 1956, in Casa Grande, Ariz., and was the daughter of the late Wendell and Lavonne (Weece) Berry.

Kristine Winchester Kristine Winchester, 33, of Piggott, Ark., passed away November 26, 2022, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Jennifer Mair Cooper and Rodney Ray Jones in Fayetteville, Ark.
Monday, Nov. 21, the Clay County Quorum Court held its regular monthly meeting at the courthouse in Piggott, with Justice David Cagle being absent and all other justices present. Justice Dennis Haines made a motion to dispense of the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting, which was seconded by Justice Patrick Patterson, and approved by the court.
Rector Downtown Central will host Santa’s favorite elf, Buddy the Elf, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, in Rector Downtown Park. Friends of Buddy the Elf will take him for a ride in the Christmas Parade so he can see Santa. Buddy the Elf believes in spreading Christmas Cheer by singing loudly for all to hear and Ken Price, pastor of Rector General Baptist Church, will lead the crowd bellowing forth with their best voices at the bandstand around 3:30 p.m.
Rector Chamber of Commerce annual Rector Christmas Parade is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Line-up will take place at 3rd and Main Streets. Floats, side-by-sides, walking groups, riding groups are welcome. If you have Christmas spirit, you can share it in the Rector Christmas Parade.
Downtown Piggott will be alive with the sights and sounds of the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 3, as the annual Christmas Fest and parade are held. Activities are slated from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the square, followed by the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.
Heath Hunsaker, age 30, of Dexter, Mo., appeared as required in the Criminal Division of Greene County Circuit Court on Nov. 28, before Judge Chris Thyer for a pretrial hearing before the court. His appearance with his attorneys occurred after conferences between the defense attorneys and attorney for the State of Arkansas and the Matthew Wayne Hale family Mike Trail. Judge Thyer opened court by stating that the two sides had recently been in negotiations and a plea deal had been accepted by the Hale family. Judge Thyer then reviewed the two-page plea agreement.
Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fourth annual 12 days of Christmas slated to begin Saturday, Dec. 3 with the Christmas Fest and the Christmas Parade. The fest will start at noon and continue until 4:30 p.m. with the parade starting at 5 p.
