Cougars prepare for Little Rock trip
As the Rector Cougars prepare for a trip to Little Rock and the 8-Man Division State Championship game to be played at War Memorial Stadium this Thursday, kick-off at 7:00 p.m., Coach David Hendrix shared the statistics from the semi-final game against Mountain Pine. Rector cheerleaders and band will be making the trip to support the team in the program’s first ever state championship game in football. The team will make the trip on Wednesday, giving them opportunity to get the feel for the stadium, the field, and the atmosphere.

Rector General Baptist Church to stage live nativity scene
When was the last time you saw a live nativity scene? Was it when you turned the corner at Monette, coming home to Clay County? Was it at Hitt’s Chapel Church along with streams of linedup cars before they stopped their production in 2014? Or was it in the movie “Home Alone” when Kevin was hiding from the bad guys? The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce announces that Rector prints are for sale. The prints are $20 unframed and measure 16 x 20.
HPMEC now accepting applications for 2023 writer-in-residence program
Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center has set the date for their 2023 writer-in-residence program. Applications are now being accepted and the selected candidate will be lodged in the loft apartment on the downtown square. Powhatan Historic State Park to host holiday open house
Powhatan Historic State Park will host a holiday open house on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 1888 Powhatan Courthouse. This family-oriented day will include opportunities to make crafts, tour the property, participate in activities, and enjoy refreshments.
Delta Symphony Orchestra to present Holiday Concert at ASU Fowler Center
The Delta Symphony Orchestra will present its annual Holiday Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, in Riceland Hall of the Fowler Center on the A-State Campus in Jonesboro. DSO and Conductor, Dr. Neale Bartee, plan a wonderful selection of holiday classics, including Bugler’s Holiday with trumpeters Nairam Simoes, Tyler Helms, and Blake White and Fantasia on Greensleeves, featuring flutist Heather Coleman and harpist Alaina Graiser. Foundation of the Arts Ballerinas will perform selected dances from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker and the Delta Symphony Orchestra’s will perform Sleigh Ride with guest Conductor, George Cavenaugh. The concert will close with the traditional DSO sing-a-long and an appearance by Santa Claus.
