Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center has set the date for their 2023 writer-in-residence program. Atlas Rios and Christian Mero were recently selected as the Rector Elementary Students of the Month. Atlas was described as always having a positive attitude and working hard in class. He is so excited to learn new things and his joy rubs off on his classmates. Christian was described as always willing to help anytime she is asked. She takes care of the other students in her class. Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, or ASPSF, congratulates the Fall 2022 Arkansas Northeastern College scholarship recipients. Thanks to the support of local donors and state funding, ASPSF awarded scholarships to 61 single parents pursuing associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and skilled-trade certificates across Northeast Arkansas.
Plans are complete, as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to host their annual Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 3. Activities are slated from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the square in downtown Piggott, followed by the annual Christmas Parade at 5 p.m.
The Clay County Library Board will host a retirement party for longtime librarian Gay Johnson from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
The Ozark Folk Center State Park will host the Ozark Holidays Craft Show on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature high-quality, hand-crafted items for sale by local artisans. Admission to the event is free.
Powhatan Historic State Park will host a holiday open house on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 1888 Powhatan Courthouse. This familyoriented day will include opportunities to make crafts, tour the property, participate in activities, and enjoy refreshments.
The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce announces that Rector prints are for sale. The prints are $20 unframed and measure 16 x 20.
