What is your New Year’s Resolution?

Jill Davidson, Chief Deputy Treasurer of Clay County and Piggott resident – “I want to focus on being kind and more thankful for all the blessings I have in my life.” Clay County Treasurer Teresa Akers, of Piggott – “I want to be more attentive in listening to people and be more mindful of what they are saying.” Former Pollard resident Sarah Moody Thompson, now of Nashville - “My New Year’s Resolution is to read more.” Her husband, David’s resolution is “to cook more healthy home cooked meals.” .

DHS Christmas effort a success

Organizers of the annual Clay County Department of Human Services Christmas Project report another successful effort. According to DHS county administrator Holly Crabtree, “In the Piggott and Rector area we helped 24 families with 67 children.” Again, as usual, the area was very generous.

Mohawks in tournament play

Piggott Mohawks traveled to Senath to play in the Senath-Hornersville Christmas tournament last week. On Monday, Dec. 12 the Tribe took on the red-hot Senath Hornersville team, although the team put in a valiant effort the Mohawks lost 53-81. High scorer of the game was Shawn-Hudson Seegraves making 16 points, Ashton Lemmons made 11. Rounding out the scoring was Cole James and Joe Carpenter each had eight points, William Lucas scored six and Kaiden Scudder and Jesus Garcia made two points each.
