Rector Chamber of Commerce to hold Christmas lighting contest
The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring their annual Christmas lighting contest for homes in the Rector city limits. Judging will take place over a four-day period beginning Thursday, Dec.

WBU program recognized for national excellence
The Williams Teacher Education Program (WTEP) at Williams Baptist University has been granted national accreditation for its educator preparation programs, making it one of 55 providers from 28 states and the United Arab Emirates to receive accreditation this fall.

The 12 Days of Christmas underway
The schedule of activities wraps up this weekend as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual 12 Days of Christmas. Today, Wednesday, Dec. 14, First National Bank will host crafts, Christmas Bingo and serve cookies and cocoa at the City Market starting at 4 p.m.

Rector School Board hears financial report
Rector School Board met Monday, Dec. 12, at the Administration Building and a quorum was declared by acting chair for the meeting Secretary Kirk Ford. President and vice-president Jody Simmons and Mike Trail were both absent from the meeting. Superintendent Johnny Fowler presented the financial report for November, showing the total fund balance of $5,389,518.48 which includes general operating fund balance, building fund balance, federal programs funds and cafeteria funds.
