Mildred Junell Davis

Mildred Junell Davis, 99 of Fayetteville, and formerly of Piggott, passed away on December 10, 2022 at the Fayetteville Health and Rehab. She was born to the late James and Grace (Grabiel) Fish in Dunklin County, Mo. Junell was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ. She loved being outside and working in her yard. She was always after the bargains at the yard sales and enjoyed Search a Word Books.

Santa Claus visits Rector Public Library

Santa, Mrs. Claus and Karrin the Elf visited the Rector Public Library on Wednesday, Dec. 7 and again on Friday, Dec. 9. On Wednesday, Karrin the Elf read the book ‘Santa is coming to Arkansas’ to Marmaduke Preschool students. On Friday, Rector Preschool enjoyed hearing Ms. Virginia read the book ‘Santa is coming to Arkansas’. During both programs each child participated in making a snow globe craft, Christmas tree and a bracelet. The children also had a chance to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas, or just to have a small talk with Santa. RHS students volunteering on Wednesday were Sam Shipley, Macy Ward, Makenna Lane, Alaina Wilhite, Gabby Tindle and Breanna Green. RHS students volunteering on Friday were Sam Shipley, Zoey Prince, Makayla Mcquire, Abigail Schuerman, Anna Lopez, Lorelei McNabb, Victoria Coffel, Breanna Parrish, Makenna Lane, Samantha Garcia, Alaina Wilhite, and Breanna Green. Also helping were Joey Pruett, Sarah Boyd and Caroline Banning.

Piggott Mohawk basketball on the road update

The senior high Mohawks have played their last few games away starting with their winning over Ridgefield Christian on Dec. 5 with a score of 69-35. Shawn-Hudson Seegraves scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds with Nate Brantley scoring 12 points, Ashton Lemmons scoring seven and Joe Carpenter making six. Rounding out the scoring was Skyler Raymer with five, William Lucas four, Kayden Reel three and Cole James two.
