Clay County Sheriff ’s Dept. makes multiple arrests

Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole reports that on Jan. 4, 2023, Shana Whitaker, a 26 year-old female, contacted deputies wanting to turn herself in since she found out she had an outstanding warrant in Western District Criminal Division for theft of a firearm and breaking or entering/ building or structure. Whitaker was transported to the Clay County Sheriff Department where she was charged with theft of a firearm and breaking or entering/ building or structure.

Spring Reading Retreat slated at HPMEC

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum has announced April 28 and April 29, 2023, as the dates for the Spring Reading Retreat. Registration is $160 due by April 1, with a $25 late registration fee for late entries. The fee may be refunded until April 15. 4-H Tech Changemakers plans workshop

The 4-H Tech Changemakers are excited to announce a workshop teaching technical skills for work and personal life. The workshop is free and open to everyone. The next workshop will be held from 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Piggott Public Library located at 361 W. Main St. The lesson will focus on phishing and other digital questions and answers. You are asked to bring your digital device (cell phone, iPad, laptop, etc.) that you would like additional help operating.

Best Care workshop planned for childcare providers

A Best Care workshop is planned for childcare providers in Clay, Greene, Lawrence, and Randolph Counties from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at the Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, 106 E. Everett St. Class topics include body positivity, good nutrition and basic math, importance of immunizations, literacy in early childhood, money as you grow, guidance, kindergarten readiness, engaging children in physical activity, observation in early childhood and professionalism. Arkansas Soybean Association announces seminar

The Arkansas Soybean Association has set Wednesday, Jan. 25 as the date of their annual business session and seminar. The informative seminar and business session will be held at the Brinkley Convention Center, 1501 Weatherby Drive, in Brinkley, Ark. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. and will conclude with lunch. Lunch will be provided by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board and meeting sponsors.
