Not many people can boast of a singing career that began at age four or that he or she became a music teacher at age 14. Eldon Wright was brave enough to stand and sing at conventions when he was just a toddler.
1983 Donnie Morrison, ASU Indian’s Nose guard, and former Piggott Mohawk, was a featured speaker at the fall sports banquet Saturday night along with Billy Ray Smith of the Razorbacks. Alex David Wyatt was Piggott Community Hospital’s first baby for 1983.
The American Red Cross urges blood donors of all types and those who have never given before to book a time to give blood. People of all blood types are needed, especially platelet donors and those with type O blood – blood products that are critical to keeping hospitals ready to help patients depending on transfusions in the weeks ahead.
A workshop on “Introduction to Building a Successful Blog” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon in the educational center of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. The cost is $35 per person and space is limited. If wanting to reserve a laptop for the workshop please advise when signing up.
Thanks to a newly acquired grant, initial research will soon begin at Arkansas State University to better understand vaccine hesitancy. The grant is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Arkansas Department of Health (ADH).
Once again this year, the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum of Piggott has joined forces with Liberty Hill Outfitters for a special fundraiser. Papa’s Upland Bird Hunt, planned to cel-ebrate Ernest Hemingway’s Arkansas hunting legacy, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Liberty Hill (located northeast of Rector).

Kristy Lee Phillips Kristy Lee Phillips, 52 of Piggott, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Kristy, daughter of Vernon and Pat Permenter Wilson, was born on Friday, June 19, 1970 in Piggott.
