Better Beginnings seeking nominations for outstanding early childhood professional

Better Beginnings, a program of the Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education, is seeking nominations for the next Arkansas Outstanding Early Childhood Professional (AOECP). Established in 1988, this award administered by DCCECE honors an early childhood professional who makes significant contributions to the early care and education field in Arkansas.

Rector School Board meets, principal report on activities

Rector School Board met at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, in the administration building with all board members, both principals, and the superintendent present. Superintendent Johnny Fowler reported a general operating fund balance of $1,639,629.63, a building fund balance of $3,469,749.21, and when combined with lunch program and federal monies, the total fund balance was reported at $5,505,837.86, the report accepted and approved by the board.

Piggott City Council approves hospital budget

Piggott City Council met for the first time of the new year with newly elected mayor Bradley Scheffler calling the meeting to order, all council members along with attorney Kimberly Dale were in attendance. Due to the weather situation, the guest speakers James Magee and Harry Hutchinson were moved up to be the first on agenda to allow Hutchinson to start his trip home to Jonesboro before the roads iced over.
