Piggott Community Hospital in conjunction with St. Bernards Heart and Vascular, celebrated the opening of the new cardiology clinic located at 137 South Front Street in Piggott (inside the Specialty Clinic).

1983 The week of March 7-13 has been designated as Mohawk Week concluding on Sunday with Ted Box Day. Winners of Piggott Middle School’s spelling bee held March 2 are Angie Wright (eighth grade), Tammie Ridings and Shane Evans (both sixth graders).

Dalene Woods, RN at the Piggott Community Hospital Emergency Room was recently awarded recognition to the UAMS Stroke Champion Bronze Club. This award is to acknowledge her quick response to a recent stroke patient who presented to the ER. Dalene recalls that the hospital ambulance was called to a local business to help an unresponsive patient. When the patient arrived to the ER, EMS and ER staff assessed that the patient may have been suffering a stroke. Dalene contacted UAMS via telehealth, performed the stroke scale assessment, and gave the medication. Within 30 minutes the patient was able to talk and the deficits were starting to reverse. At that point the patient was transferred to a certified stroke center for ongoing care. Dr. McComb, who worked in the ER with Dalene that day, said “She did great!”
