Roma Nell Sanders, 88 of Rector,Ark., died March 25, 2023 at her home. She was born January 10, 1935, and lived all of her life in the Rector community.

The Piggott City Council met on Thursday, March 23 at 5:45 p.m. to first address lien placement on properties the city has had to mow and clean up. All members were present with attorney Lexie Butler sitting in for city attorney Kim Dale and Alvie Burdin was the only member of the public to attend.
Despite the pouring rain, turnout was good for the proclamation signing and cake cutting to celebrate Clay County’s 150th anniversary. The celebration was held at noon on Friday, March 24 at the Piggott Courthouse with Judge Mike Patterson presiding over the ceremony.
Thursday night. March 30. It’s a fifth Thursday and another opportunity to be a part of a live music event at the Rector Community Museum’s Ford Room. This Thursday night Doc’s Friends Bluegrass Band (a musical group that includes Lance Winn, Carmen Crocker, John Williams, Doc (Lance Monroe), and Joey Pruett) along with Glendil Griffin will entertain and present a variety of music styles. Because artists from the region have been lining up with requests to play at the Ford Room, the Museum Board and Director Joey Pruett initiated the fifth Thursday for an additional concert.
Saturday evening’s Rector FFA Dinner and Auction, March 25, was a successful and entertaining event, bringing funds for the students’ activity coffers for the next program year. Rodney McClellan managed and called the auction that saw items donated from local businesses to one-of-a-kind objects made by the FFA students go for good prices.
Piggott is gearing up for its annual city wide yard sale set for Saturday, April 1. The Piggott Area Chamformation ber of Commerce reminds local residences sales held that day will not be required to purchase a permit from the city. The City of Piggott has also waived the fee for Friday, March 31. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Chamber of Commerce.
