Tuesday, March 14, the Piggott School Board met in regular session with all board members present. The meeting started with the Mohawk Moments with Superintendent Freddie Bowen introducing Ben Sisson. Sisson presented the school with four AED defibrillators, for high school, elementary school and Pre-K. Sisson’s father, Aaron, had a medical episode at a Piggott basketball game in the fall and thanks to the quick action of the school nurse and other medical personnel who were present at the game he made a good recovery. A life-saving defibrillator from a state police car was used and Sisson set out on a mission to make sure the school was properly equipped to help save a life if an emergency situation occurred again. Enough funds were left after the purchase of these that chocking protocol apparatuses that can be used throughout the campus. There is still some money left which was put into a fund to purchase batteries or other needs. “These also have pediatric pads for kids under 55 pounds. It is voice activated to tell you how to do it,” remarked Sisson. Sisson’s parents, Ben and Regina were also present at the meeting with Regina asking, “Do our teams, when they are playing here, will they have one?” A resound-ing yes was the answer from the board. Sisson received a hearty round of applause and thank you from those at the meeting.
