The Rector FFA is offering a pulled pork dinner to the public to kick-off the annual fundraising event to be held Saturday, March 25, at the Rector Community Center. The dinner portion of the event begins at 5:30 p.m. with student leadership greeting the public at the door.
A commodity distribution for Clay County is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Clay County Quorum Court met Monday, March 20, in regular session in the Piggott Courthouse. All members of the court were present. Motion was made by Justice Dennis Haines to suspend the reading of the previous month with a second by Justice Patrick Patterson, all voted in favor.
Residents of Piggott are scheduled to vote on Tuesday, May 9 and are being asked to support the extension of the Piggott Community Hospital sales tax. The monies from this tax go into the operation of the emergency room of the hospital which saw over 6,500 patients in 2022.
The Rector Cougars baseball team’s first road game of the season was quite the success beating Hillcrest 14-0. Cooper Rabjohn was the starting pitcher.

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Education Center will host a watercolor workshop from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18. Newcomer to town, Milo Stephens, will be the instructor of the workshop, which will be held in the education center. There is a $40 fee which will include tour and class instruction. The Black River Technical College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16 in the Richard Gaines Technology Building conference room at the BRTC Pocahontas location. The meeting will be held to discuss the BRTC fees structure and a resolution to recognize new additional instructional sites.
