Anna Haley,

daughter of Brian and Lori Haley, plans to move to Conway and live with her sister and her fiancé’ after graduation. While there she plans to help take care of the fur babies and go to UCA and graduate with a nursing degree. Her plans also include getting rich and becoming more boujie and richer than her siblings. Anna was in cheer during her freshman, sophomore and junior years and softball in her junior year. She was also in FBLA and Beta during her freshman through senior years. Her favorite school memory was the time they were on a school field trip and their bus driver accidentally scraped the side of the bus with a truck in the Casey’s parking lot. Anna would like to be remembered as the Lululemon Girl.

Leslie Reaves

is graduating high school a year early and will get her basics at BRTC, after which she plans to obtain an agribusiness degree from ASU. She played volleyball her freshman year and was in FFA and FBLA during high school and was also active in Beta. Her favorite memory is when it snowed and she didn’t have to attend school. Leslie is the daughter of Terry Reaves and Carrie Reaves.

Noah Roberts

is the son of Chris and Dana Roberts. His future plans are to go to school to become an electrician and start his own business. He played football (ninth – 12th) and was in the FFA (ninth – 12th). Noah’s favorite memory is the time they got out early after telling all the teachers and they didn’t believe him. He would like to be remembered as the guy that everyone thought was funny.

Rice farmers encouraged by USDA to prepare for new production program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today previewed plans to provide up to $250 million in assistance to rice farmers and what steps they can take to be prepared to sign up when the program is released later this spring. USDA is sharing information early so producers can prepare for program signup, which will include a pre-filled application in an effort to simplify and streamline the application process.

Clay County Sheriff’s Report

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department recently reported at 2:06 a.m. Sunday, May 7, a Clay County Deputy observed a Yukon on the side of the road on Highway 49 at Hargrave Corner. As the deputy approached the vehicle he observed a male subject in the vehicle with a burnt glass pipe with a white powdery residue. When the deputy came in contact with the subject, he was identified as 68-yearold Charles R. Camp of Piggott. After a search of the vehicle a small container with a white crystal-like substance, and a Smith & Wesson automatic pistol was found. Camp was arrested on the following charges: felony possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a controlled substance and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearm. Camp was transported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. The Clay County Sheriff’s Department recently reported at 4:53 p.m. Monday, May 8, a Clay County Deputy observed a white Dodge pickup with a tail light out at the stoplight in Corning. The deputy tried to make a traffic stop but the vehicle sped off. A pursuit began several city streets running numerous stop signs with speeds reaching 60 to 70 miles per hour. The vehicle continued onto W. 1st Street and then traveled into the Corning Cemetery hitting a concrete pole at the end of the street. The subject then tried to continue through the cemetery where he became stuck. The subject then surrendered to the deputy at gunpoint. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Miguel Angel Davis of Corning. A loaded AR15 and a 45 caliber pistol with body armor were found in the front seat of the vehicle. It was found the subject had a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear out of Clay County. He was charged with felony fleeing, felony criminal mischief- first degree, no proof of insurance, failure to stop at a stop sign three times, driving on suspended driver’s license, defective vehicle equipment and driving left of center.
