Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Trial by Jury from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 27. Put yourself in place where history happened as you become judge, part of the jury, a lawyer, or maybe even the accused as we bring a court case from Powhatan’s history to life. No acting experience is needed, but participants should come ready to dive in. Space is limited and reservations are required. There is a registration fee of $25. The Randolph County Extension Service will be holding a fair judging school on Tuesday, May 23, at the St. Paul Parrish located at 1002 Convent Street in Pocahontas. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. with the first session beginning at 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. The second session will be from 10:20 until 11:20 a.m. then take a lunch break until noon. Session three will start at noon and end at 1 p.m. with a break from 1 until 1:15 p.m. with the fourth session being from 1:15 until 2:15 with the closing from 2:15 until 2:30 p.m.

The Little Rock VA Regional Office’s next Virtual Claims Clinic for Arkansas Veterans is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, May 25. During the upcoming Virtual Claims Clinic, veterans may speak to staff of the Little Rock VA Regional Office who are ready to assist them with specific questions regarding VA benefits claims.

Clay County Quorum Court met in regular session on Monday, May 15, at the courthouse in Piggott with all justices present. Justice Dennis Haines made a motion to suspend the reading of the previous meeting with Justice Patrick Patterson seconding the motion.
