The next meeting of the Black River Technical College Board of Trustees is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 4. The meeting will be held on the Pocahontas campus in the Richard Gaines Business/ Technology Building conference room.

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Law Enforcement TrainingAcademy (LETA) held its Spring 2023 graduation ceremony on Thursday, April 13 for the 45 officers who completed the Basic Police Training Course.
Drew Henderson of Rector was nominated to represent his community and school at Arkansas Boys State 2023, an immersive leadership and civic engagement experience sponsored by the American Legion. Henderson is a junior at Rector High School and the son of Nathan and Heidi Henderson.
The Clay County Sheriff recently announced anyone having a Clay County misdemeanor warrant for unpaid fines in District Court may turn themselves in at the Sheriff’s Department. The warrant will be served and the person will be released and given a court date to appear in front of the judge to have their payment plan renewed. Once the jail opens those with a warrant for unpaid fines will be taken to jail and incarcerated and will then have to post bond.
Black River Technical College recently awarded the Spring 2023 Nightingale Scholarship to awarded to Madison Stokes of Rector, Chrisanna Nagy of Jonesboro, and Sydney Dye of Paragould. Stokes is a Practical Nursing student.
A new performance series will be presented by the Historic Dyess Colony: Johnny Cash Boyhood Home. The Sunken Lands Songwriting Circle will be held in Riceland Hall at Fowler Center, located at 201 Olympic Dr., Saturday, Aug. 12. This event will be hosted by Rosanne Cash along with performers Rodney Crowell and Sarah Jarosz.
