The Delta Symphony Orchestra will offer its inaugural session of Youth String Camp this July. This day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 10 through July 14 in Jonesboro. The program is open to string students (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, and piano) ages eight through 15. Participants will have sectional and full group instruction each day and will present a recital for family and friends on the last day of camp. Black River Technical College is pleased to announce the summer Practical Nursing pinning and graduation ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, in the Randolph County Devel-opment Center on the Pocahontas Campus.

The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will host a Veteran Art Exhibit July 2428 on its main campus in Poplar Bluff; however, the June 30 entry deadline is quickly approaching.

The first demolition derby action of the season will be featured Saturday evening, June 17, in the arena of the Clay County Fairgrounds in Piggott. The excitement will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the pee wee event while the main event will follow at 7 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for kids ages six to 12, while kids five and under are admitted free. Pit passes are $15 and must be purchased at the back gate. There are no exceptions, and everyone in the pit area must have a pit pass. Piggott Girl Scout Troop 3011 is currently selling chances for a knife raffle. Tickets are $10 each or three for $20 with each ticket purchase entitling you to three chances of winning. First prize is a custom Seth Miller knife, handmade in Boydsville, Ark., and valued at $250. Second prize is an Aitor El Montero, made in Spain and is used by Spanish Special Forces valued at $140. Third prize is a Condor Australian Army Machete. It is made in small batches in El Salvador with a value of $100. All proceeds will benefit the troop. Drawing will be held on June 16. A photographic exhibit entitled ‘The Veneto of Ernest Hemingway: Across the River into the Trees’ is being hosted by Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center through June 30. The exhibit is comprised of a series of beautiful black and white panels and is located in the new exhibit room on the second floor of the museum.

Chad Garrett and Friends will headline the Senath Lions Club variety show set for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 16 at Hornbeck Auditorium at Senath High School.

The Rector Public Library is geared-up for a busy June and July as the Summer Reading Program returns. This year’s theme is “All Together Now – Kindness – Friendship Unity.” The programs are at 9 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June and will continue on July 12 and 19. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more.

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Piggott Public Library as they present “All Together Now and Bee-ing Kind.” The programs are at 11 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more. This year the library has announced one of their big prizes is a giant Squishmallow Sunny the Bee pool float. Children will be able to enter their name for a chance to win during each program attended. The drawing for the winner will be held on June 28 at the Kinders concert.
