The traditional slate of beauty pageants are scheduled in conjunction with this year’s St. Francis Picnic, set for Saturday, July 15, at the picnic grounds in that community.
New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard continues its Vacation Bible School each Wednesday night through July 19. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS being held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. This year’s theme is “Twist and Turns” as those attending will spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win. Classes are available for preschool through youth. Those wanting more information may call 870544-2364.
A full schedule of pageants from birth to 21 years and up will once again accompany the Piggott 4th of July picnic. The entry fee will be $30 and registration starts 30 minutes prior to pageant start time and sign up will be behind the stage. Ages birth to four years old will be casual dress with ages five and up being pageant dress.
Geraldean Steward Geraldean Steward, 83, of Piggott, Ark., passed away June 23, 2023, at her home in Piggott. She was born on October 4, 1939, in Shirley, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Luther and Lottie (Carroll) Tankersley.

A theatrical experience like no other is returning to the Ford Room inside the Rector Community Museum this Thursday, June 29, as Joe Mansfield brings his “Average Joe’s Magic Show” to Rector. The Ford Room continues to provide quality entertainment of different styles.
Piggott City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 22 with all city council members present along with city attorney Kim Dale, mayor Bradley Scheffler and city clerk Nikki Blue.
The Grand Marshal for the 2023 Piggott Fourth of July Celebration Parade will be Sue Cole, lifelong resident of Piggott. Cole, who will turn 95 on July 16, is well deserving of this honor. “I am so honored and more than surprised and thrilled to be asked to be the Grand Marshal,” said Cole. “I am so proud of our town. I love Piggott.” Cole is a humble, down-to-earth lady who is very deserving of this honor.
