The office of Central Methodist University Provost Rita Gulstad announced recently the students included on the spring 2023 Dean’s List. Among those earning recognition were Erica Paige Burns and Carlie Brooke Vancil of Piggott.
New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard continues its Vacation Bible School each Wednesday night through July 19. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS being held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. This year’s theme is “Twist and Turns” as those attending will spin the spinner, beat the clock, skip ahead, level up, and play to win. Makayla Allman, of Piggott, has been named to the Spring 2023 Chancellor’s List at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. UA Little Rock recognizes superior academic performance at the end of each semester.
The PHS class of 1983 will be holding their 40-year class reunion on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Sugar Creek Country Club at 6:30 pm. The cost for attendance is $30.00 per person / $50.00 per couple. The class photo will be taken at 6:45 p.m. sharp! Dinner and live music by Randy Harrington and the Southern Tradition Band will follow. The annual Pollard Picnic, to benefit the New Hope Cemetery, will be held Saturday, July 8, in Pollard. As usual, this year’s picnic will include a full schedule of beauty pageants for contestants of all ages.
The children of Homer and Dora Causey will be hosting a family reunion beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at the Pollard Picnic ground.
Central Methodist University celebrated its spring 2023 commencement on May 13 in Puckett Fieldhouse on the Fayette campus. Former board of trustees chairman Robert Courtney gave the commencement address as a packed house of family, friends, faculty, staff, and other guests celebrated the graduates.
A full schedule of pageants from birth to 21 years and up will once again accompany the Piggott 4th of July picnic. The entry fee will be $30 and registration starts 30 minutes prior to pageant start time and sign up will be behind the stage. Ages birth to four years old will be casual dress with ages five and up being pageant dress.
