Delta Symphony Orchestra to offer Youth String Camp

The Delta Symphony Orchestra will offer its inaugural session of Youth String Camp this July. This day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 10 through July 14 in Jonesboro. The program is open to string students (violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, and piano) ages eight through 15. Participants will have sectional and full group instruction each day and will present a recital for family and friends on the last day of camp. Henderson attends Arkansas Boys State

During the immersive civics lesson known for 82 years as Arkansas Boys State, Rector’s Drew Henderson put into practice his leadership skills and ability to build relationships. Henderson was elected by his peers during district elections on Tuesday, May 30, as part of the annual session of Boys State where students build a mock government structure, including eight different congressional districts each with three senators and ten representatives.

Summer Reading Program continues at Piggott

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Piggott Public Library as they present “All Together Now and Bee-ing Kind.” The programs are at 11 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more. This year the library has announced one of their big prizes is a giant Squishmallow Sunny the Bee pool float. Children will be able to enter their name for a chance to win during each program attended. The drawing for the winner will be held on June 28 at the Kinders concert.

Rector Library plans program on Animology

The Rector Public Library is geared-up for a busy June and July as the Summer Reading Program returns. This year’s theme is “All Together Now – Kindness – Friendship Unity.” The programs are at 9 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June and will continue on July 12 and 19. The 2023 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more.
